Discover Haitian Food

If you ask any immigrants about what they miss the most from home, there is a 99.99999 % chance of them replying that it is food. In fact, that would be my answer as well.

In Haiti, we dedicate a lot of time to cooking. Almost every day, we buy fresh ingredients from the market. A typical Haitian dish is rice and beans with chicken stew. It is so flavored and tasty that we eat it every almost single day.

It is also common to include avocado, a popular fruit which has a pleasant taste and various health benefits, to our delicacies. In Haiti, during avocado summer season, we eat avocado with every single dish. However, it is mostly common to eat it with bread. During other seasons, unlike in the States where avocados can be bought from stores throughout the year, we rarely have avocados because their time is summer.

Zaboka ka manje ak tout bagay. Nou manje li ak pen, mayi moulen, bonbon siwo, diri. Nou tèlman renmen zakoka nou, nou pase anpil tan nan mache machande yo, gade yo, peze yo, enspekte yo, e gade si yo pouri avan ke nou peye pou li.
